PDescription:

Will work under the supervisionof the Radiology administrator and/or designee. Performs routineand some special procedure imaging. Prepares patient forprocedures. Assists radiologists when needed. Prepares, operates,and cares for the equipment being used. Adheres to establishedradiology “standards of care.” Applies principles of radiationprotection, when appropriate, to minimize exposure to patient,self, and others. Assumes responsibility for assigned area andduties. Adheres to practice-wide customer service programs.

Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance.

Performs diagnostic and some special procedure medical radiographicimages utilizing radiologic assistance. Exercises professionaljudgment in the performance of procedures.

Essential Functions andResponsibilities Includes the and adheres to the client PerformanceStandards, Policies, and Behaviors.

Prepares and positions patientscorrectly for specific examinations, observing different andspecial requirements for each protocol, including properdocumentation on images and required body partquestionnaires.

Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/orprocedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completedexams for quality and completeness for the type of testordered.

Assists physicians during procedures as necessary.

Performsequipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, orderssupplies.

May be required to work holidays, overtime, and/or day,evening, and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate andsafe coverage for the outpatient facility.

Maintains the cleanlinessof all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports allmalfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or supervisor.

Processesfilm/images, or prints CDs if needed.

Performs routine office tasks,such as answering phones, checking in patients, obtaining previousreports/films, or other related duties as needed.

Shows radiologistimages and calls reports to the attending physician and documentscommunications if necessary (wet readings).May be assigned as aninstructor or preceptor.

Will treat all people/staff in aprofessional and courteous manner, upholding the client behavioralstandards.

Introduces self and educates each patient or familymember regarding the examination that is ordered.

Knowledgeable andskillful in providing care, based on age, physical, andpsychosocial needs of different patient populations includingneonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatricgroups.

Performs other related duties as required, attends staffmeetings and in-services.

Coverage rotation to other outpatientoffsites.

Duties and hours may change according to the needs of theoffsite practices.

Position is eligible for certificationincentive.

Education & Experience RequirementsHigh SchoolDiploma/GED required.

The Mammographer must be a graduate of anallied health education and accredited radiography school orhospital-based program. NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permitrequired. ARRT registered (RT).Passing advanced Mammoexamination/certification preferred or within one year from date ofhire.

Including training in mammography including anatomy andphysiology, QA/QC, and mammo exams under direct supervision by anMQSA individual during the orientation process.

Continuing educationrequirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth bygoverning bodies. Current standards are ECE credits over a two-yearperiod depending on the year of birth.

Category CEU in mammo in amonth period.

BLS certification through the (AHA) American HeartAssociation is required or must be completed within days ofhire.

Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wiselythrough the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performedduring the orientation process and before the end of theprobationary period.
