Minimum two shifts per month, M-F, weekends required,varied shift: 7a-3p/8a-4p/3p-11p/4p-12a
Description:
The RadiologicTechnologist will work under the supervision of the Director and/ordesignee. Performs routine and some special procedure imaging.
Prepares patients for procedures. Assists Radiologists when needed.
Prepares, operates, and cares for the equipment being used.
Develops/processes film/CDs when needed. Adheres to establishedradiology “standards of care.” Applies principles of radiationprotection, when appropriate, to minimize exposure to patients,self, and others. Assumes responsibility for assigned areas andduties. Adheres to practice-wide customer service programs.
Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance.
Performs diagnostic and some special procedure medical radiographicimages. Exercises professional judgment in the performance ofprocedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the andadheres to the client Performance Standards, Policies, andBehaviors.
Prepares and positions patients correctly for specificexaminations, observing different and special requirements for eachprotocol, including proper documentation on images and requiredbody part questionnaires.
Assumes responsibilities for designatedareas and/or procedures and produces good technical images,reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness for the typeof test ordered.
Assists physicians during practice-based proceduresas necessary.
Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrationsas needed, and orders supplies.
May be required to work holidays,overtime, and/or day, evening, and overnight shift coverage to helpmaintain adequate and safe coverage for the outpatientfacility.
Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment,and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med ora supervisor.
Processes images or prints CDs if needed.
Performsroutine office tasks, such as answering phones, checking inpatients, and obtaining previous reports/films.
Shows Radiologistfilms and calls reports to the attending physician and documentscommunications if necessary (wet readings).Provides clinicalinstructions to students.
Treats all people/staff in a professionaland courteous manner, upholding client behavioralstandards.
Introduces self and educates each patient or familymember regarding the examination that is ordered.
Knowledgeable andskillful in providing care, based on age, physical, andpsychosocial needs of different patient populations includingneonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adult, and geriatricgroups.
Performs other related duties as required, attends staffmeetings, and in-services.
Participates in coverage rotation toother outpatient sites.
Duties and hours may change according to theneeds of the offsite practice.
Position is eligible for specialtycertification compensation.
Education & Experience be a graduate ofan allied health education and accredited radiography school orhospital-based program.
NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permitrequired and certification through ARRT-RT and/or registered RT(R).Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet thestandards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24CE credits over a two-year period depending on the year ofbirth.DOH IV certification is preferred or must be completed withinsix months of orientation.
BLS certification through the AmericanHeart Association (AHA) is required or must be completed within 90days of hire.
Completion of the radiation dose pledge for both ImageGently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology(ACR) during the orientation process and before the end of theprobationary period.
