SUMMARY:

he CT Tech is responsible for performing high-quality CTscans in accordance with physician orders and departmentalprotocols. This role involves preparing and positioning patients,operating CT equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, andproducing accurate diagnostic images for interpretation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reads charts, prescriptions and radiologyrequests to ascertain the existence of valid physician orders fordiagnostic computerized tomography procedures. Obtains pertinentclinical information and follows special physician requests notedon prescriptions. Prepares contract media according to physician’sorder or departmental policy. Assures proper patient identify priorto performing procedure. Initiates life support measures forpatients as necessary. Lifts and moves patients with assistance,immobilizes patients as necessary. Under the direction of aradiologist, performs diagnostic computerized tomography proceduresat a technical level. Identifies disease abnormalities andphysiological processes while performing C.T. scans with initiativeto obtain additional scan, view or other technical factors asrequired to provide maximum information for the Radiologist.

Selects technical factors and imaging modes on an individualpatient basis. Practices aseptic technique. Per physician’s orders,administers or inject intravenous contrast media which is limitedto the placement or insertion of a needle or catheter, notexceeding three inches in length and not above the level of theaxilla into a person’s upper extremity

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an AMA approved program in Radiological TechnologyCurrent New York State licensure or permit to practice as aRadiological Technologist. Requires ability to think and actquickly in order to deliver efficient, quality patient care.

Requires good reading and deductive skills in order to interpretphysician requests and effectively solve problems. Requiressufficient sensitivity and interpersonal skills to deal withapprehensive patients in a professional and compassionate manner.

Requires positive and effective communication skills forinteraction with physicians and staff in emotionally chargedsituations.

PHYSICALREQUIREMENTS

M•Medium Work•Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of forceoccasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/orgreater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to moveobjects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. PAY RANGE

$31.80•$42.99 Thelisted base pay range is a good faith representation of currentpotential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may bemodified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
