Yes Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)Technologists are responsible for the use of radiofrequencieswithin a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic or researchpurposes. MRI technologists performs magnetic resonance imaging andacquire and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request ofand for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Magneticresonance technologists independently perform or assist thelicensed practitioner in the completion of magnetic resonanceimaging procedures. Magnetic resonance technologists prepare,administer and document activities related to medications inaccordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawfulinstitutional policy. Job Duties

  • Ensures correct order isobtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, andthat clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documentedwhile respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imagingprotocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patientsafety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA(As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/oradministering, as applicable, medications through new or existingvascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technicalquality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, postprocessing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoringstudents and other health care providers.
  • Applying principles ofmagnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, andothers.
  • Assisting the licensed practitioner with magneticresonance interventional procedures.
  • Performing magneticresonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensedpractitioner.
  • Selecting appropriate pulse sequences withconsideration given to established protocols and other factorsinfluencing data acquisition parameters.
  • MRI safety knowledge andparticipates in MRI Safety implant investigation and approvalprocess.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.

Position Details

  • Certification by the American Registry ofRadiology Technologist (ARRT) or Certification by the NuclearMedicine Technologist and Certification Board (NMTCB) required uponhire.
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or NMTCB prior tofirst day of employment.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024,must complete steps required for advancing to level 2, includingadvanced certification, within 24 months.
