Job Description

  • Lifespan – The Miriam Hospital, Providence Rhode Island
  • Radiology Technologist
  • Work Schedule:
  • Per Diem, Part-Time & Full-Time positions, all shifts available
  • Position Summary:
  • Under the direction of the Manager Medical Imaging, performs a variety of technical radiographic procedures; applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.

Responsible for designated areas or procedures, as required. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the adult and geriatric patient and adapt their care to the physical, psychosocial, and cultural needs

  • Responsibilities:
  • Meets, greets, answers questions, and provides an understandable explanation of Radiologic examinations to patients in order to reduce apprehension. Provides for safety and comfort of all patients, in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Schedules patients for radiologic examinations in a prescribed manner, ensuring an efficient patient flow.
  • Processes radiographic images using the CR Readers and scans the images to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for physician review.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures demonstrating sound understanding of anatomical positioning, physiology, and technical factors, in order to produce optimum results.
  • Provides for safety and comfort of all patients in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Operates fixed radiographic equipment in the Radiology Department and/or transports and operates portable radiographic equipment on nursing units.
  • Assists physician and physician assistant in the administration of opaque contrast media. Processes exposed radiographic images as required.
  • Maintains orderliness, cleanliness and adequate supplies for assigned area. Rotates within the department and by shift, as required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Performs other related duties, as required.
  • Qualifications:
  • Completion of formal training in an AMA-approved accredited school of radiologic technology or equivalent.
  • Maintains a current license to work in the State of Rhode Island.
  • Must hold current ARRT certification and AHA BLS certification.
