Mammography Technologist – PRN Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing top quality and safe healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities since 1917. https://www.aikenregional.com Mammography Technology to performs health care services utilizing mammography in screening for breast disease and to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease states. Performs mammography procedures and uses related techniques, producing images for interpretation by the Radiologist.
Duties:
Properly checks equipment daily and ensures equipment is working properly. If equipment is not functioning properly, notifies appropriate person. Performs QC on equipment at appropriate intervals. Prepares room, equipment, supplies and materials needed for procedures. Maintains clean and stocked procedure room on a daily basis. Checks birth date, accession number and medical record number of mammogram unit before starting exam. Notifies proper personnel if any equipment is not operating properly. Practices patient care according to ARMC policy. Checks for old mammograms and gets medical record release signed if performed at other facility. Reviews prior images, if available, to determine proper positioning and technical factors. Interviews patient and records patient history and any pertinent information for Radiologist. Teaches patient breast self-examination, gives her literature and documents this on history sheet. Assists Radiologists during procedures and takes films as requested. Regularly accepts additional work during period of low patient activity, and demonstrates a willingness to assist others within the department as requested. Reviews reports for abnormal findings and determines which need to have further QA follow up. Contacts patient’s physician if mammogram report if positive and recommends additional follow up. Considers age-related factors in obtaining images or performing diagnostic or therapeutic studies. Responsible for ensuring that patient charges are given to the appropriate person to be entered into RMS in a timely manner and that the charges are accurate. Demonstrates knowledge and implements radiation safety procedures when working with radiation producing devices 100% of the time. Obtains and correctly documents verbal and telephone orders per facility policy (only applies to ARRT licensed staff). Rotates to other imaging departments as needed; participates in holiday and on-call rotation requirements. Other duties as assigned. Education :
Successful completion of a radiological program or equivalent military training.
Experience:
One year in Mammography preferred.
License or Registration Requirements:
ARRT registered; Mammography registered or have met MQSA requirements, BLS (or obtained within 90 days of employment), and current South Carolina license issued by SC Radiation Quality Standards Association.
