Determines if special pient preparion is needed. Assists radiologists in performing specialized and invasive procedures. Performs such specialized procedures as laminography, diagnostic and stereotactic mammography, cystography, and barium studies on pients in various stages of health to include extremely ill or severely compromised due to disease or injury. Responsible for quality control program and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimum performance and health protective measures. Performs quality control by reviewing radiographs taken by other technicians for accuracy of positioning and techniques. Performs miscellaneous administrive functions. Performs front desk duties to include receiving pients, scheduling, and explaining methods of examinion in person and over the telephone. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determinion, as determined by a completed background investigion. Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificion through the American Red Cross or American Heart Associion. Advanced certificion (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. Public Law 97-35 requires th persons who administer radiologic procedures meet the credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75. Essentially, they must (1) have successfully completed an educional program th meets or exceeds the standards described in th regulion, and is accredited by an organizion recognized by the Department of Educion, and (2) be certified as radiographers in their field.

(2) Persons first employed by the Federal Government as radiologic personnel after the effective de of the regulion who (a) received training from institutions in a Ste or foreign jurisdiction th did not accredit training in th particular field the time of graduion, or (b) practiced in a Ste or foreign jurisdiction th did not license th particular field or did not allow special eligibility to take a licensure examinion for those who did not gradue from an accredited educional program, provided such persons show evidence of training, experience, and competence, as determined by OPM or the employing agency. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualificion requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes performing any one or more of the following: radiographic examinions, setting up x-ray room, preparing or administering contrast merial. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
