Job Functions:

Observes ALARA principles, As Low as Reasonably Achievable. This is a radiation safety principle for minimizing radiation doses and releases of radioactive materials by employing all reasonable methods. Provides protective devices such as lead aprons, shields. Controls the device and make sure that a patient is ready, dressed and in the proper position to get optimum view in order to get accurate results. Rejects and repeats exams if the desired result was unclear or not achieved, keeping these to a minimum. Thoroughly explains procedure to patients, making them very comfortable and at ease with the test. Prepares the room, the table and the equipment for the patients use. Cleans the room and equipment after each use, preparing the room for the next patient. Keeps logbook of all patient procedures, date, technologist initials, procedure, ordering physician, repeat/reject reason, and verifying report availability after exam is performed. Apply their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to the process in order to help the Radiologist diagnose problems. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods. Ensures that reports are readily available to ordering physicians. May read dictated report to ordering physician when necessary or make available to ordering provider. Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary. Minimize non-productive time and fill slow periods with activities that will enable you to prepare to meet the future needs of the System (education, organizing, housekeeping, and assisting others). Organize job functions and work area to be able to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames. Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods. Educational/ Experience Requirements:

Must have completed courses in radiography, Must be Certified and Registered in Radiology with the ARRT and SCQRSA Certificate (State License) Must have a current BLS A non-exempt position, Radiologic Technologists, assist the Radiologist with the process of imaging and diagnosing illness. Rad Techs are responsible for providing a diagnostic image to the Radiologist so that the Radiologist may better diagnose illness. They make sure that the equipment is working properly, providing a comfortable and safe environment for the patients. The technologist will do what is reasonably necessary to obtain a high-quality image sufficient for thorough examination by the Radiologist. They provide information used to diagnose patient illnesses by operating radiologic equipment to produce radiographs. EOE
