• A Brief Overview
• The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized MRI equipment to produce computer-generated diagnostic images which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders.

They perform procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.

• What you will do
• + Review orders prior to the day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.

+ Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure and MR safety while utilizing effective communication. + Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation. + Ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure. + Perform MRI procedures as required based on physician’s order. + Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of MRI and related coils to obtain highest quality images of the anatomy being scanned. + Start I.V., load and operate power injector, and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol. + Completion of exam in hospital information system. + Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment. + May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.

• Education Qualifications
• + Associate’s Degree under the completion of a Radiologic Technology program Required or + Certificate under the completion of MRI technology program Required
• Experience Qualifications
• + Minimum one (1) year MRI experience Preferred
• Skills and Abilities
• + Understand and utilize anatomical positioning, physics + MRI safety + Critical thinking + Time management + Effective communication + Proficiency in IV access for contrast media administration
• Licenses and Certifications
• + Magnetic Resonance Imaging
• American Registry Radiologic Technologist or registry eligible (if eligible must obtain MR certification within 24 months of hire or transfer date) Required + Radiography
• South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Preferred + Basic Life Support Certified
• American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two year Required
• PAT Rating
