JobSummaryPerforms a variety of procedures applying ionizingradiation. Performs CT scans as directed. Communicates with thephysician and other work-related personnel appropriately.

Be the difference. Identifies patients and procedures. Communicate with nursing orphysician concerning patient. Inform nursing of patients that needIV sedation or biopsies. Fill out questionnaires on all patientsbetween the ages of 12-55 yrs. old. Positions patients accuratelyfor all CT procedures. Patients are transferred and positionedcorrectly for anatomy to be demonstrated for best visibility. Knowscanning protocols in depth. Must be able to perform procedurescorrectly using protocol book for reference. Studies must be donein a timely manner and taken to the radiologist for interpretationas soon as possible after completion of exam. Write time procedureis finished and filmed on patient board. Films must be archived andtaken to radiologist for reading. Obtains appropriate supplies andprepares room for patient. Keeps room cleaned and stocked at alltimes. Adequate supplies and linens must always be available.
Tables and trays must be cleaned after each patient. Use propertechnique when injection IV contrast. Ensure IV is working andchecked first with an injection of saline. Choose correct method ofinjection (hand or injector). Must be proficient in filming fromimaging workstation. 3D imaging and multiplanar reconstruction.
Responds to codes and other emergency situationsappropriately. Explains CT procedure to patient and/or family member. Obtainscompleted questionnaire and proper history and clinical frompatient, floor or physician’s office. Informs patients and familiesof all delays. Trains co-workers and students. Assist othertechnologists when not busy in assigned CT room. Acquires requisition and checks for appropriate clinical.
Charges procedure, supplies and surgical codes when exam iscompleted. Indicates no-film badge wearing name and fluoro time.
Adds surgical charges when needed. Operates the PAC’s systemappropriately and verify studies before sending to archive. Reportsequipment problems to supervisor, in-charge tech and documentsconfirmation numbers. Appropriate forms must be completed for allprocedures. Fill out contrast sheet on all patients receiving IVand rectal contrast. A contrast media form must be filled out onall patients, CT forms must be filled out on all patients.
Communicates with radiologist to determine appropriate protocolsfor each exam. Correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by theradiologist. Procedures must be performed as directed by theradiologist. Correct scans as performed. Demonstrates recognitionof anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed.
Perform warm up calibrations as needed. Correct protocols are utilized as prescribed by theradiologist. Procedures must be performed as directed by theradiologist. Correct scans as performed. Demonstrates recognitionof anatomy and pathology as related to scan being processed.

Supervisory/ManagementResponsibility This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor,manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements Education – Certification Program. Graduate of accreditedRadiologic Technology program Experience – No experience required.
