EssentialFunctionsDemonstrates competence to provide developmentallyappropriate care/treatment for the following patientpopulation:
Infant (Birth to 1 year)Child (1 year through 12years)Adolescent (13 years through 17 years)Adult (18 years to 65years)Geriatric (Over 65 years)Performs detailed safety screeningof all patients with regards to metallic foreign bodies, implantsand or medical devices and obtains a signed MRI patient screeningform when possible.
Checks EMR on all patients for correct order,contraindications and other precautions.
Prepares patients for MRIprocedures. Uses universal precautions on all patients.
Informs thepatients of the process to be followed in performing theexam.
Observes condition of patients while in the MRI Department andcontacts appropriate personnel when necessary.
Recognize emergencypatient conditions and takes appropriate measures.
Providespertinent information to radiologist, which will contribute to planof care.
Positions patients appropriately on MRI table utilizingproper imaging equipment (MRI coils, MRI conditional monitoringequipment).Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvides hearing protection foreveryone in the MRI exam room (patient, family member, CRNA,etc.)Maintains cleanliness of MRI Department and equipment. Usesproper cleaning technique, disposes of contaminated needlesproperly and maintains adequate stock of linen and supplies.
Assistswith patient transport whenever necessary.
Performs optimum qualityMRI scans according to radiologist’s protocols.
Makes appropriatedecisions based on judgment within the scope of their ability ontechnical or patient related problems and notifies the appropriatepersonnel.
Assist in quality control of the equipment by contactingthe appropriate personnel and notifies the department supervisor asnecessary.
Electronically sends images to the appropriatedestination including PACS.Performs all other duties as assigned byauthorized personnel or as required in an emergency. e.g., fire ordisaster.
Responsible for being on call, working weekends, workingalternate shifts and working holidays on a rotating basis or asneeded basis.
Proficient in starting IV’s and injecting contrast forcertain procedures.
Practices and implements good service excellenceat all times. Be caring and genuinely concerned for patients. Bepatient and try to relieve some of the anxiety patients have duringan MRI procedure.
Ability to monitor and teach MRI studentsAssistradiologists with biopsies, and specialty procedures requiringaseptic techniques.
