Summary of PrimaryFunction/General Purpose of PositionThe X-Ray Technician performsdigital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed byproviders. The X-Ray Technician is a multi-skilled clinicalprofessional who works within the scope of practice to assist inpatient care under the direction of the provider.
Essential JobFunctionsSafely performs provider ordered radiographicexaminations, including but not limited to proper patientpositioning, immobilization, and utilizing appropriate radiationprotection.
Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilizationequipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positionsand handles patients with a high degree of safety andprofessionalismAccurately documents patient encounters withinElectronic Medical Record (EMR)Determines and selects properelectronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-raytube, and equipmentMaintains clinical and administrative skills tomeet patient care and daily operational needs. Collect patientspecimens and runs point of care lab tests. Travel to otherfacilities for BSMH providers or adjusting work hours to meetpatient care needs as directed by the manager may also berequired.
Directs and practices sterile technique to preventcross-contamination of diseaseReports immediately any malfunction,necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment to supervisorOtherduties include but not limited to ordering supplies, lab anddiagnostic tests, disposes of contaminated supplies, patientregistration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling,check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as neededbasis.
