Job DescriptionJob SummaryPerforms mammography procedures inaccordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
COMPANYDESCRIPTIONFrye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautifulfoothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital,81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary andspecialty care providers. Essential Functions Reviews patient history and physician’s orders. Educatespatient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensurepatient’s understanding and cooperation. When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/ormedications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds tochanges in status as appropriate. May assist physician withperforming interventional procedures including fine needleaspiration and needle localization. Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposurefactors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards andperforms appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions asnecessary. Participates in ensuring compliance with the MammographyQuality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicableaccreditations. Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies,stereotactic and special procedures. Analyzes results andidentifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takesappropriate action to resolve image quality issues, includingrepositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. Keeps current with BiRad and follow-ups on all patients.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares. Ability to reach overhead. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively anddevelop priorities during highly stressful situations. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbalmedia. Ability to move and operate equipment and carrysupplies
Physical Environment:
Potential exposure to patients who may be physically orverbally abusive. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardousmaterials. This position may require the use of personal protectiveequipment during several patient and equipment relatedactivities. Occasionally exposed to noise and unpleasant odors.
