Job Description

MammographyTech,BreastCenterDepartment Job Type:

PRN,DayShift Performs mammography proceduresin accordance withapplicable scope and standards of practice. Supervises daily staff activities for an assigned area or function. Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Reviews patient history and physician’s orders. Educates patientregardingprocedures,equipmentand exam to ensure patient’s understanding and cooperation.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status asappropriate. Mayassistphysician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.

Selectsappropriate exposurefactors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performsappropriate qualitycontrol procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipmentmalfunctionsas necessary.

  • Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicableaccreditations.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures. Analyzes results andidentifiesissues with the quality of imaging results. Takesappropriate actionto resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results.
  • Keeps current withBiRadand follow-ups on all patients.
  • Determines,coordinatesand supervises daily staffing assignments and levels.
  • Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs orassistswith performanceevaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Assesses and ensures quality of services delivered andfacilitatesstaff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Performs staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels.
  • Leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints.
