Job Description

The Student Radiologic Technologist is required to have indirect supervision during the assigned shift by a registered Radiologic Technologist. Student technologist is responsible for working directly with patients and assisting radiologists/R.P.A. while administering x-rays in the course of radiological examinations in concordance with physician orders. The student radiologic technologist shall be capable of operating radiologic equipment, perform a variety of radiological procedures, utilizes the PACS and RIS while providing patient care and patient safety as established by department standards. The student radiologic technologist is responsible for clearing all films with a registered Radiologic Technologist prior to submission to the Radiologists for interpretation. This position is responsible for performing a variety of basic clerical and housekeeping functions such as examination and work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection control. Based upon documentation from their institution, the Student Radiologic Technologist shall be deemed competent in the following areas of general radiography, routine fluoroscopic procedures, emergent trauma radiography, radiographic technique formulation, radiographic quality control, and portable radiographic procedures. Student radiologic technologists exercise professional judgment and ethics while performing services in a demeanor complimentary to customer service, age specific criteria, safety and medical ethics.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required. Must be enrolled in an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology and have started their second year being classified as a Senior student. BLS required within 3 months.

Experience:

Clinical experience in a radiologic technology program.
