POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality imaging MRI procedures toour patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient mannerwhile providing those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education /

Training:

Graduate of anARRT approved program, accredited through The American Registry ofRadiologic Technologists, and be registered or working towardcertification in the subspecialty of MRI; or hold current ARMRITcertification. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements. BLS isrequired within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:

Preferenceof at least one year of work experience in hospital environmentworking in MRI after graduation and accreditation; however, willingto train.

Equipment and Skills Training:

General computer knowledgeas well as a keen mind for safety

Physical Environment:

Large fieldstrength magnet with a special focus on patient safety anduniversal precautions practiced in a multimodality imagingdepartment

Physical Effort:

Possesses the ability to performmultifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operateequipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs andstretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds;communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriatejudgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; anddemonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day today interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families,and physicians. Must be willing to take call on weekends and atother times as deemed necessary.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Checkspatient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy ofrequest before proceeding with study. Questions all patientsregarding medical history to include any surgeries which mightinclude implants or Pacemakers and communicates with patient toensure patient understands study and is as comfortable as possible.

Provides safe environment for patients. Follows safety procedure atall times and will stop procedure immediately if patient becomesclaustrophobic, if any part of body becomes warm, or if patientsimply wishes to terminate procedure. Communicates regularly

procedure to provide the patient with a more pleasantexperience. Communicates potential or existingproblems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services.

Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring thepatient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patienttransport. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas duringdowntime, short staff, or high census periods. Always makes gooduse of time. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situationsand makes appropriate decisions. Volunteers for overtime andfill-in when needed. Completes scans ordered or scheduled duringtheir shift. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safetyprocedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher totable and watching patient while on table. Works well with fellowemployees to provide the most efficient use of equipment andensures that all requests from physicians and patients arecompleted. Helps facilitate specialty radiology reads for stat orurgent exams when needed.
