A Brief Overview The Rad Tech II is responsible for operating radiographic equipment to perform diagnostic and other clinical exams as directed, and serves as a coach to student technologists. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. What you will do Performs radiologic and other requested examinations on assigned patients. Determines technical and positioning factors and positions patient for exam. Determines and selects proper radiographic factors in order to minimize radiation exposure. Explains procedures to patients and answers any questions or concerns. Collects specimens for drug screens and performs Blood Alcohol Tests and CLIA-waived tests. Performs patient intake activities, including checking and recording vital signs. Provides ongoing patient assessment through observation of patient and records; reports findings accurately and on time. Assists in the development of others through guidance and teaching. Promotes professional practice of all members of the radiological services team. Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures. Effectively manages resources such as supplies and equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner. Demonstrates professional work behavior and excellent customer service routinely in all interactions. Performs other job functions as assigned or requested. Education Qualifications Technical Degree or Diploma Radiology Experience Qualifications 1-3 years Rad Tech Skills and Abilities Knowledge of procedures used to train and orient Rad Tech Is as determined by the Manger. Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers. Demonstrated clinical competencies in radiography imaging equipment and procedures. Licenses and Certifications

– American Heart Association Registered Radiologic Technologist – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Medical Radiation Technologist Mississippi Mississippi State Department of Health Radiologic Technologist Arkansas Arkansas Department of Health Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job, except that the incumbent may occasionally demonstrate various job responsibilities, observe, coach, and guide less experienced Rad Techs in the department. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: medium work – exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform an activity, such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
