Assistant Director Shepherd’s Place Adult Day Respite Fairhope, AL 36532
Summary:
The Assistant Director serves as a representative of Shepherd’s Place Adult Day Respite program. It is necessary for this individual to have a passion for working with older adults while assisting in the daily events of the respite program. This includes taking on the Director’s role in her absence, assisting in the planning and implementing of various programming and activities, and helping to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
General Responsibilities:
- Support Director in planning the daily, weekly, and monthly activities.
- Lead activities and encourage volunteers to take an active role in programming as needed.
- Assist in recruiting, training, scheduling, and managing volunteers.
- Help maintain a safe and secure environment.
- Provide feedback and information to families and/or caregivers on the participant’s day, while at Shepherd’s Place.
- Maintain relevant first aid requirements
- In absence of Director, assume the duties of Director for safe operation of the program.
- Direct Shepherd’s Place as leader on designated days.
- Help to maintain paperwork that is both accurate and current for participants and volunteers.

- Must be an independent, multi-tasking, self-starter that possesses strong organizational, interpersonal, administrative, and time management skills.
- Retains the capability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while maintaining a helpful, friendly attitude towards others.
- Demonstrates the understanding and compassion for the needs and requirements of older adults (including social, medical, and psychological issues).
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
