Recreation Assistant River House Adult Day Center Cos Cob, CT 06807 Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Recreation Assistant to join our team in providing enriching activities for residents in a nursing home or assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals, particularly those facing aging issues or cognitive challenges such as dementia. This role involves planning and facilitating recreational programs that promote social interaction, physical activity, and emotional well-being. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Assist in organizing events, games, and outings to foster community engagement. Provide support during activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all participants. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to encourage participation and gather feedback. Document participation levels and assess the effectiveness of programs in meeting residents’ needs. Collaborate with nursing staff and social workers to create individualized activity plans for residents with specific care needs. Manage schedules for activities to ensure a balanced offering throughout the week. Experience Previous experience in a nursing home, assisted living facility, or caregiving role is preferred. Familiarity with recreational therapy practices and aging issues counseling is a plus. Experience working with individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments is highly valued. Strong communication skills are essential for engaging with residents and their families. Ability to manage schedules effectively while adapting to the dynamic needs of the residents. $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 per year
