Therapeutic Recreation, Activities in Memory Care 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 3 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT 06840 Waveny is currently looking for a creative and qualified individual to join our extraordinary Therapeutic Recreation team. We’re seeking a qualified Therapeutic Recreation professional for a per diem position, and a weekend position.

Qualifications and Experience :

The ideal candidate will be able to implement a variety of therapeutic programs for our memory challenged residents. Must have experience working with an elderly population. Requires a compassionate, energetic leader who is able to work as part of our interdisciplinary team that provides our residents with a well-rounded calendar of therapeutic activities. Must be able to work weekends and holidays on a rotation basis or as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments and the ability to perform routine program duties. Must be able to work with demonstrated compassion and patience with program participants. Individual must possess good judgment and interpersonal skills, ability to perform lifting and other strenuous duties.

• 1-2 years experience working with memory challenged individuals.
• Excellent people skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Prior experience using electronic medical records and completing MDS is helpful.
• CTRS, BCMT, NCCDP, NCCAP or other creative arts certification is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for implementing a calendar of programs for our residents.
• Provides 1:1 TR activities and visits.
• Participates in Resident Care conferences and committee meetings representing the Therapeutic Recreation Department.
• Assists the residents with Resident Council Meetings.
• Continually upgrades and makes changes in job area to assure department meets the needs of the changing market/field.
• Maintains cleanliness and safety of the Therapeutic Recreation areas.
• Supports, promotes and projects guest relations and positive images to all visitors, residents and other Waveny LifeCare Network personnel.
