ALF Activities Director Northlake Retirement Home Hollywood, FL 33020 Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activities Director to join our team, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for residents in our long-term care facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recreational therapy and caregiving, with a passion for working with the elderly and those facing aging issues. This role involves planning, coordinating, and implementing engaging activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical wellness among residents. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of residents. Schedule and manage daily activities, ensuring they are accessible and enjoyable for all participants. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote participation in activities. Provide counseling on aging issues and support residents in coping with challenges related to dementia care. Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate therapeutic activities into individual care plans. Organize special events and residents birthdays and outings that foster community involvement and enhance resident engagement. Qualifications Experience in long-term care settings or nursing homes is preferred. Background in recreational therapy or related fields is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while being flexible to accommodate resident needs. Knowledge of dementia care practices and aging issues counseling is advantageous. A caring attitude with a commitment to enhancing the lives of elderly individuals through meaningful activities. Previous experience in caregiving or community care is a plus.
