Activities DirectorWe are currently looking for an ActivitiesDirector to be responsible for planning and directing a program ofdiversified activities for residents of the health care facility.

The goal of the activity program is to provide mental and physicalstimulation as well as to create an invigorating social atmospherefor the residents.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific developmental factorsspecific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical,cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning activityprograms. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary toplan activities for residents with the following needs:therapeutic, neuro & dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, and infectiousdiseases if applicable. Attends all mandatory in-services by the employee’s anniversarydate. Acts appropriately under the direction of the Administrator andacts as an active member of the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrates ability to adjust to changes in unit/shiftassignments to meet resident and family needs. Communicates and observes the Corporate Compliance programeffectively and complies with Code of Conduct when performing workfunctions.

Administrative/Resident Care Responsibilities:

Directs other activity personnel in implementing activityprograms and services at the facility. Assists in training,teaching, and directing of volunteers and students. Provides all Department Heads with a schedule of plannedactivity programs and posts calendars in conspicuous locationseasily accessible and legible to the residents and staff. Provides the Administrator with a monthly statistical report ofthe number of planned activities and participates in in-serviceprograms as appropriate. Maintains a system of records including information onresidents, progress notes, attendance, discharge summaries,Resident Council meeting minutes, activity assessments, and plansfor each resident. Attends Care Plan conferences and identifies problems anddevelops goals and approaches for inclusion on the Care Plan. Conducts in-service programs related to activities policies andprocedures for activities staff and facility staff asappropriate. Interviews new residents upon admission to identify their needsand interest in various activity programs. Provides personal services for residents such as writingletters, mailing packages, and transporting them to communityevents when transportation is available. Delegates assignments to activity staff for smooth functioningof activity programs. Processes progress reports of residents in charts at nurses’station. Decorates facility with seasonal d–cor, including holidaydecorations. Performs various Quality Assurance audits. Requisitions equipment and supplies to conduct activityprograms. Conducts inventory audits and prepares yearly budget forActivities. Performs light housekeeping tasks, such as clean-up afterparties and programs, when necessary. Works with the Administrator in maintaining establishedActivity standards.

Interacts with residents and family members, co-workers,clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive, andcalm manner. Addressees resident and family satisfaction issues immediatelyby reporting them to the Supervisor in a professional manner. Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting Law.
