Overview
Expressive Arts Coordinator, under the direction of the Director of Volunteer Services, is responsible for providing system-based, customer-focused art services to patients, families, and staff. This position leads the coordination of the Arts in Medicine program, facilitating expressive art experiences for inpatients, outpatients, and staff. The coordinator works closely with Volunteer Services to enhance program delivery and support various volunteer-led activities including art initiatives. Major Responsibilities
Establishes processes for delivering expressive arts services to patients, staff, and families.
Provides art services for bedside art experiences and outpatient group sessions.
Develops and maintains relationships with healthcare providers to support requests and procedures for art services andmunicate impact and benefits of art programs.
Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteer artists.
• Develops and maintainsmunity and academic partnerships.
• Creates orientation materials and procedures for volunteer artists.
Curates two hospital-based art galleries (one in Gia, one in Alabama), including recruiting artists and changing out exhibits monthly.
Identifies and pursues grants and funding for the Arts in Medicine program.
Manages the program’s budget and inventory of supplies.
Evaluates program impact by conducting oue evaluations andpiling and presenting findings
Rmends changes and new services based on patient needs and best practices.
Works with Volunteer Services to coordinate volunteer support for art-based projects and assist with the volunteer programs
Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a therapeutic discipline or Art with coursework in Behavioral Science.
Work Experience
Two to three years’ experience in a healthcare setting, therapeutic setting , or other appropriate setting using the arts.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Strongmunication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
Proficiency in planning and delivering expressive art activities for diverse populations. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Frequent sitting/standing, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Use of office equipment, manual dexterity, verbal/writtenmunication, and travel to alternative sites as needed.
Preferred Job Requirements
Master’s Degree in Expressive Arts, Art Therapy, Counseling, or related field.
Certification or Licensure in a therapeutic discipline (ATR or similar)
Experience
Experience supervising volunteers or interns
Familiarity with grant writing or program evaluation
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Working knowledge of databases and MS Office Ability tomunicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Stronganizational and team building skills
