Position Overview:
A senior living community is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Activity Director to lead and coordinate engaging programs and activities for our residents. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life, promoting wellness, and encouraging socialization through meaningful recreational, educational, and cultural experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop, plan, and implement a monthly calendar of activities that address physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs. Coordinate group and individual activities tailored to varying levels of care and resident interests. Lead and supervise activity sessions, events, and outings. Collaborate with other departments (nursing, dietary, wellness) to support resident engagement and care plans. Ensure compliance with all state regulations and documentation requirements related to resident activities. Maintain a budget for supplies, entertainers, and outings. Develop relationships with residents and families to encourage participation and gather feedback. Train and oversee activity assistants and volunteers. Keep accurate attendance records and monitor resident participation.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years experience in a senior living or healthcare setting, preferably in activities or recreation. Certification as an Activity Director (NCCAP or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain within first year. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Creative, highly organized, and passionate about working with older adults. Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to pass background and health screenings.
