Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and LicensedRecreational Therapist (LRT) in North Carolina.
  • Experience inbehavioral health settings preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skillsand a passion for patient-centered care.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree,required. Graduate of National Recreation and Parks Association /American Association of Leisure and Recreation (NRPA/AALR)accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree isrequired. New graduates after January 1, 2007 must hold NationalCertification (CTRS) and North Carolina State Licensure (LRT).Current practitioners must have the ability to obtain NationalCertification (CTRS) and North Carolina State Licensure (LRT) byJanuary 1, 2008.

  • Experience:

    One year clinical experience inbehavioral health, preferred.

  • Licensure/Certification:

    NC stateapproved curricula for restrictive interventions (facilityspecific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments andBehavioral Health units, required.

  • Additional skills required:

Conduct assessments. Maintain a caseload and responsible fordocumentation regarding caseload patients. Provide clinicalservices to a wide range of ages, cultures and socio-economicbackgrounds. Keep accurate and appropriate record. Perform well ina work environment dependent upon mutual support, a high degree ofindependence, and a strong team concept. Skill at presenting togroups, facilitating group interaction and providing one to onesessions as needed.

  • Additional skills preferred: One yearexperience of mental health/substance abuse background with aworking knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and therapeuticinterventions with the mental health/substance abuse population.
