Qualifications:
Current North Carolina Teacher Licensure
Minimum of five years successful classroom teaching experience
Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in Education preferred
Proficient technology skills
Strong leadership and collaboration skills
Strong instructional skills inclusive of oral and written communication
Supervises:
None
Essential Job Functions:
Provides leadership, oversight and guidance for K-5 including exceptional children and curriculum and instruction
Supports the communication, coordination, planning, implementation, and monitoring of curriculum and instruction across the district
Ensures alignment of curriculum, instruction, intervention and assessment within the HCS Instructional Framework and NC State Standards
Manages the development of curriculum and instruction
Aligns work to the district’s framework and priorities for effective instruction for all students
Leads development of universally-designed tools and resources aligned to the NC State Standards and college readiness
Collaborates and communicates across departments to develop and deliver professional development opportunities
Manages and supports the implementation of coherent curriculum and instruction that creates a clear pathway for success for all students
Manages and supports the implementation of research-based, culturally and linguistically responsive practices
Coordinates with academic coaches in meetings and professional development
Develops, oversees and supports all stakeholders with the implementation of NC State Standards in special education process
Manages and supports the adoption and vetting of high-quality instructional andintervention materials for all students, including those in bilingual programs
Researches, evaluates, and prepares recommendations on curricula, instructional methods, technology, and materials
Collaborates and communicates across departments to facilitate and support curriculum development and ensure alignment and coherence
Serves on district level cross-functional teams as appropriate
Works towards local training opportunities in literacy instruction.
Assists classroom teachers with analysis of formal and informal assessment data on their students’ response to instruction
Uses assessment data to assist teachers and administration with placement of students in appropriate instructional or intervention program
Performs all other duties as assigned

Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20
pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move
