PositionSummaryResponsible for the design, implementation and evaluation ofindividualized Recreational Therapy services for patients withphysical, social, emotional and/or cognitive impairments based onevidenced based practice and research. This position functions aspart of the interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities1.
Patient CareDelivery:
Completes individualized assessments per physician orderand develops individualized treatment plans.
Participates intreatment team conferences.
Provides therapeutic interventions ingroup and individual sessions.
Provides education to patients andfamilies.
Responsible for discharge planning and completion ofdischarge summaries per policies and procedures.
Identifies/ reportschanges in patient care and resolves issues with routineschedule/staffing changes.2.
Patient Care Documentation:
Completesinitial assessment, treatment plan, care plan goals, daily sessionnotes, patient care conference notes, education and dischargeinstructions/ recommendations per RT policies and procedures.
Servesas a resource to improve documentation methods/ system for staffand students.3.
Professional Practice and Development:
Maintainspertinent certifications/licensures.
Responsible for maintaininglevel IV clinical ladder requirements.
Completes personal goals onannual performance appraisal.
Responsible for maintaining continuingeducation.
Supervisies interns, practicum students, and volunteersas assigned.
Responsible for meeting productivity standards.
Serveson committees as assigned.
Assists supervisor in their duties andwith general operations of the RT program.4. Preceptor/ Facilitatorfor training and education of students, RT staff and otherdisciplines.
Provides education to non-RT and non-hospital staff asit relates to and promotes the field of Recreational Therapy.
Seeksout educational opportunities for specialized skill development inarea of interest/ expertise as pertains to specific patientpopulation and provides informal educational inservices withstaff.5. Assists in establishment of program goals andobjectives.
Assists in writing/ developing program policies andprocedures.
Assists with maintaining and organization of inventory,program supplies and equipment.6. Supervises RT interns7.Demonstrates competencies and serves as resource with diagnoses andin at least one area of clinical expertise; resource to staff forRT interventionsTakes lead role with Quality improvementprocesses.
Acts as resource for safety of environment, staff andpatients.8. Keeps abreast of current trends in field and serves asresource for alternatives to traditional treatment interventionsand plan of care based on assessment of patient need.
Serves asresource regarding continuum of care needs and patientadvocacy.
Minimum RequirementsBS/ BA and or MS in TherapeuticRecreation or Recreational Therapy.
Maintains State of NorthCarolina Recreational Therapy licensure (LRT) through the State ofNC Licensure Board.
Maintains certification as Certified TherapeuticRecreational Specialist (CTRS) through National Council forTherapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).10 or more years oflicensure is required (does not apply to BH Allied Health orMedical Group)BH Allied Health and Medical Group 10 or more yearsof experience is required.
Demonstrates leadership and advancedknowledge of RT interventions as they pertain to patientpopulation.
