Recreation Specialist 2.8 2.8 out of 5 stars Penfield, NY 14526 Who We Are The Children’s Home mission is to partner with children, families, and communities throughout New York State to inspire hope, develop skills and cultivate healthy relationships for positive futures. $18-$22 per hour Position Summary The Children’s Home in Penfield, NY is seeking energetic individuals to join our Rec. Therapy department as a Recreational Specialist. The Recreation Specialist plays a key role in creating a positive and enriching environment for children in care by fostering supportive relationships and implementing engaging recreational activities. This position involves designing and monitoring individualized recreation goals, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive recreation plans, and supervising activities both on-site and off-site. The Recreation Specialist ensures timely and professional completion of reports while contributing to the children’s growth and well-being through structured and leisure-time programming. Responsibilities Establish positive relationships with children in care by applying TCI and CARE Assist with designing and implementing recreation activities. Create and monitor individual recreation goals for each child and report on the progress of the goal during treatment team meetings and staff meetings. Work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments to develop a comprehensive recreation plan to provide a positive learning environment for the children in our care. Provide safe and responsible transports for youth and families as required by program Complete required reports and documentation on time meeting all standards of content and professional presentation. Provide for the recreational needs and leisure time activities for children in care by planning and supervising activities both within and away from the unit setting. Requirements Education High School Diploma required Bachelor’s Degree with educational focus preferred Experience 1 year experience working with youth required Driver’s license and ability to maintain insurance throughout employment required.
