Job Title:

Support Staff Position Summary:

The Support Staff is responsible for seeing that the daily structure is maintained. He/She acts as the eyes and ears of the community in regard to residents, behavior and reports on progress. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Must be on floor with residents’ except when engaged in administrative duties. Ensures all money, metro cards, and vouchers are in order and that the procedures for turning over the house are followed. Search, collect and secure all residents property. Oversees and ensures that all residents are participating in all scheduled activities and services (when groups are in progress room runs must be done). Provides feedback to primary counselors and other treatment staff when necessary, also communicate all incidents in log book and complete incident reports when necessary. In crisis situations escort residents to the hospital and report the outcome to staff on duty. Enters results in the staff communications book. Works along with primary counselors in resolving behavioral problems among residents as needed. Observes and learns from primary counselors. Reports to primary counselor, health problems of residents and relays such information to the director, assistant director, nursing and clinical team. Must be able to work a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of the program.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of residential treatment 12-24 months experience working with substance abusers. Basic understanding of therapeutic community dynamics, procedures, and concepts. Good communication skills and the ability to develop effective and appropriate interpersonal relationships with colleagues as well as residents C.P.R. and

First Aid Certified Education:
