The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities through creative programming and supportive interaction. This role is essential in fostering a positive environment that promotes socialization, physical activity, and emotional well-being. Responsibilities Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of residents. Facilitate group activities and one-on-one interactions to encourage participation among residents. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to ensure a collaborative approach to care. Provide support for residents with aging issues or disabilities during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort. Document participation and progress of residents in activities, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate staff. Collaborate with nursing home staff to integrate therapeutic recreation into the overall care plan. Help manage schedules for activities, ensuring that all events are well-coordinated and adequately staffed. Requirements Experience in senior care or long-term care settings is preferred. Knowledge of recreational therapy practices is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. Ability to assist individuals with varying abilities and needs, including those with disabilities. Experience in event planning or schedule management is beneficial. A genuine interest in working with older adults and understanding aging issues. A positive attitude, patience, and empathy towards residents are essential qualities for this role.
