Community Life (Activities) Associate Position Available In Chester, Pennsylvania

Community Life (Activities) Associate Friends Home in Kennett 147 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348 Friends Home in Kennett, a senior living community located in Kennett Square, PA, is seeking a full-time Community Life Associate (40 hours per week). Schedule will be 5 days/week, including every Sunday, from 9a – 5p. Occasional evening hours may be required. The Community Life Associate will organize and lead group activities in areas of interest to residents in the skilled nursing facility and the Personal Care facility. In the future, the Community Life Associate will be responsible for activities in a secured dementia unit.

EOE Essential Functions:

Assisting the Community Life Director in the designing, planning, creating, initiating, facilitating and execution of a diverse range of recreational and educational activities and events Encouraging residents or participants to engage in scheduled activities Setting up and cleaning up activity spaces before and after events Ensuring the safety of participants during activities Monitoring participant engagement and happiness, and adjusting activities as needed Documenting participant attendance and progress Assisting with community celebrations such as Nursing Home Week, seasonal parties, and other special events Accompanying residents on trips as requested by the

Community Life Director Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Experience and comfort working with seniors who have dementia and/or who are physically and/or cognitively impaired
• Knowledge of Montessori methodology and its application strongly preferred
• Proficient in English Language, reading, writing, grammar, math skills
• Knowledge of needs specific to senior adults
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook
• Driver’s license in good standing
• Working knowledge of Human Services/Geriatric programs
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Comfortable in advocating and partnering with the surrounding community
• Patience, Empathy, Enthusiasm, Customer Service Skills, Communication Skills
