Located on James Island, SC and we are a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast’s leading life care retirement community. We are located just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston!
The Activities Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive activities program designed to improve the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents. The Coordinator will work with the team to ensure that activities are engaging, therapeutic, and cater to the individual needs and abilities of residents. This role emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and providing enriching experiences that enhance the quality of life for all residents in Arcadia, Bishop Gadsden’s memory support neighborhood.

A Typical Day:

Develop and manage a monthly activity calendar tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
Coordinate group and one-on-one activities, special events, and outings.
Collaborate with nursing and therapy teams to align activities with care plans.
Ensure safety and compliance during all programs.
Supervise volunteers and interns supporting activities.
Contribute to the community newsletter with updates and event highlights.
Participate in care plan meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
Maintain accurate documentation and report changes in resident condition.
Build positive relationships with residents, families, and guests.
Stay current on best practices in dementia care and activity programming.
Requirements
What We Need In a

Candidate:

High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience in long term care for the elderly.
Previous experience as an activities professional working with an elderly population.
Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain CPR/AED certification upon employment.
Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
