The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for individuals in long-term care settings. This role involves working closely with residents to promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being through various recreational and therapeutic activities. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and implement a diverse range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Assist residents in participating in activities, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times. Foster a supportive environment by encouraging social interaction among residents. Collaborate with healthcare staff to assess individual resident needs and preferences for activity participation. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote engagement and address any concerns. Support recreational therapy initiatives aimed at enhancing cognitive function and emotional well-being. Participate in training sessions and staff meetings to continually improve service delivery. Skills Experience in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of dementia care principles and best practices is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and team members. Ability to assist residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function. Creative thinking skills to develop engaging activity programs that cater to diverse interests. Background in recreational therapy or social work is beneficial but not required. A compassionate approach towards caregiving that prioritizes the dignity and respect of all residents.
