years Communication skills Editing Information architecture Negotiation HTML Full Job Description The Digital Content and Website Coordinator for the College of Arts and Sciences at UT is responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing digital content across various platforms, with a primary focus on websites. This role combines technical expertise in web development with creative skills in content generation and digital marketing to effectively communicate the college’s mission and engage its audience. The Digital Content and Website Coordinator will handle daily web requests, manage website content updates, perform basic WordPress maintenance, and support email marketing efforts. This position requires strong proficiency in WordPress, basic writing and editing skills, and the ability to optimize images for the web. The coordinator will work closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure consistent messaging and effective digital communication. Website Development and Maintenance Edit, customize, and maintain websites to ensure they are functional, accessible, secure, in brand and visually appealing. Serve as the main liaison and project manager for coordinating website updates and maintenance across various departments and college units. Develop and implement a content management strategy for department websites to ensure timely updates, information accuracy, and website security. Perform routine website updates for websites under the College of Arts and Sciences umbrella. Content Management Use WordPress to create, edit, and organize content, ensuring it is up-to-date and aligns with the brand’s voice and goals. Write and edit content for the websites, email marketing, and other digital platforms as assigned. Apply the college’s SEO strategies to WordPress pages and posts to enhance visibility and engagement. Research, Collaboration and Best Practices Research WordPress versions, plug-ins, accessibility, etc., as they apply to current best practices in digital communication. Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to gather content, understand their needs, and ensure consistent messaging across all digital platforms. Collaborate with the Digital Communications Manager on mapping and wireframing, building websites, establishing WordPress instances, developing custom CSS for new themes, and other support pieces of website development for departments. Analyze websites and best practices by peer institutions and provide reports to the Digital Communications Manager. Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall digital communication strategy of the college.

Required :

Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience) and 2 years of professional experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred :

Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience) and 4 years of professional experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

Required:

Strong proficiency in website development and management, particularly in WordPress. Detailed knowledge of web accessibility standards, web best practices, and the principles of user-centered design. Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other web languages and frameworks, particularly PHP, JavaScript, and Bootstrap. Strong writing and editing skills. Knowledge of SEO and digital marketing strategies. Understanding of digital accessibility standards and compliance. Experience with multimedia production (videos, graphics, photos). Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics). Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite. Familiarity with AI tools and resources. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred:

Advanced knowledge of web coding, standards and the process of ground-up website development and accessibility standards. General knowledge of the principles of effective communication, marketing, and advertising (particularly in on-line media). Advanced interactive design and information architecture skills. Basic ability to design graphics for web and social platforms. Ability to think conceptually. critically and make use of good political and negotiation skills. Advocates for best practices in electronic communications. Knowledge of higher education.
