Director of Emergency Services Responsibilities of the Position Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessmentsas per policy. Adequately assesses and reassesses pain. Utilizes appropriate painmanagement techniques. Educates the patient and family regardingpain management. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specificfor the patient’s age. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correctadministration based on the age of the patient and the patient’sclinical condition. Follows the 6 rights of medication administration to reduce thepotential for medication errors. Formulates, implements, and revises the patient’s plan of carebased on the patient’s diagnosis and clinical symptoms. Formulates, implements, and revises the patient’s educationalplan. Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiringtechnical and manual skills. Performs treatments and provides services to the level oflicensure. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment thatoptimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors. Coordinates and supervises patient care. Meets current documentation standards and policies. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
Identifies and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, andreligious/spiritual needs of the patients and their families. Communicates clearly and professionally with all members of thehealth care team. Notifies physicians in a timely manner of changes in the patient’scondition and response to treatment. Maintains a good working relationship and treats others withrespect within the department and with all other hospitaldepartments. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Educates patient and family on disease process. Follows all evidence-based medicine and core measures as supportedby Maria Parham Health. Utilizes supplies and resources in a cost-effective manner. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Associates degree in nursing is required. Certifications/Licenses A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN)license is required upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association(AHA) is required within 30 days of employment. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric AdvancedLife Support (PALS) are required within 6 months of employment. Handle with Care (HWC) is required within 6 months of hire. Required Skills Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability towork with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action. Minimum Work Experience 1 year of experience in a health care setting is preferred.
