Summary SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, provides nursingcare to patients, including medications and treatment. Plans,implements, and evaluates patient care and performs related dutiesas required. The CN II level is the journey level class whereincumbents have had the required professional nursing experienceand are capable of independently performing the full range ofclinical nursing services involving patient care. Clinical NurseII’s may supervise the work of professional and paraprofessionalstaff of the unit to which assigned.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS
NOTE:

The following are the duties performed byemployees in this classification, however, employees may performother related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listedare necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.1. Accompanies, assists, and represents the needs of patients toother providers. 2. Accurately provide care with respect tomedication administration, skin and wound care, ADL’s and otheressential patient care related activities. 3. Develops, implements,evaluates and makes modifications in the nursing care plan;prepares required records and reports. 4. Gathers and assessinformation about patients to meet nursing needs; assists andconsults with physician in the performance of procedures anddiagnostic tests; contracts physicians and/or other departments toobtain or provide patient information. 5. May provide oversight tostaff who monitor telemetry systems; alerts primary nurse ofchanges in underlying rhythms and of any life threateningarrhythmias that may develop; interprets and posts telemetry stripsat the hours specified; admits and discharges patients withtelemetry units as appropriate. 6. Organizes, supervises, makesadjustments and accepts responsibility for the quality of careprovided patients by co-workers for a given work period; at thelevel II assumes responsibility as a team leader or a charge nursewhen assigned. 7. Participates in promoting a healthful, safe, andtherapeutic environment for patient and families; set up andcontrols the environment essential for infection control. 8.Participates in the implementation of patient care standards,infection control standards and quality assurance criteria; assistwith conducting studies; participates in unit and other meetings.9. Provides and evaluates patient care established standards andcriteria in conformity with the nursing care plan. Monitorspatients for significant and critical changes and initiatesprocedures as required; documents care given according to setstandards and at required intervals. Interprets and explainsprocedures, regimens, and services to patients and families;teaches patients and family members health care and diseaseprevention techniques. Prepares patients and/or area for proceduresand operations; assists physicians; uses instruments and equipmentrelated to the area of assignment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required;Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Sixmonths experience as a Clinical Nurse I with AHS or the equivalentof one year full time recent experience at a comparable level in aminimum 100-bed hospital or in the area of specialty; (ifexperience is not recent, completion of an approved refreshercourse may be acceptable).

Preferred Licenses/Certifications:

TNCC-Trauma Nurse Core Course (For Emergency department only).

RequiredLicenses/Certifications :

Valid license to practice as a RegisteredNurse in the State Of California.

Preferred License/Certifications:

CCRN

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse.
RequiredLicenses/Certifications:

ACLS

  • Advanced Cardiac Life SupportCertification
  • issued by AHA
  • American Heart Association, may berequired per facility or unit/department specialty according topatient care policies.
Required Licenses/Certifications:

Acquirecertification in chemotherapy within one year of hire (certainpositions only). Required Licenses / Certifications

  • Acquire ONScertification within one year of hire (inpatient med tele/oncologydepartment).
Required Licenses/Certifications:

BLS

  • Basic LifeSupport Certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Other advanced life support certifications may be required perunit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

CEN

  • Certified Emergency Nurseis desirable (for Emergency Department positions).
RequiredLicenses/Certifications:

Certification as a Public Health Nurse inthe State of California (required for certain positions).

RequiredLicenses/Certifications:

Completion of Perinatal Safety Moduleswithin 3 months of hire. Evidence of completion and continuingannual competency must be in the employee file and/or AHS’slearning management system (LMS) (for certain positions).

RequiredLicenses/Certifications:

Coronary Care Unit certification (requiredfor certain positions at Fairmont Hospital’s Monitoring Unit).

Required Licenses/Certifications:

TEAM Training (required for allpositions at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and required forcertain positions in the Emergency Department).

NRP

  • Neonatal Resuscitation ProgramCertification
  • AHA American Heart Association (required perunit/department specialty according to patient care policies).
Required Licenses/Certifications:

PALS

  • Pediatric Advanced LifeSupport Certification
  • AHA American Heart Association (Required forEmergency Department or if overseeing or providing pediatric careon a regular basis).
PAY RANGE

$70.21

  • $102.

91/HR The pay rangefor this position reflects the base pay scale for the role atAlameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined basedon several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’sexperience, education, skills, licensure and certifications,departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements,and the operational needs of the organization. Alameda HealthSystem also offers eligible positions a generous comprehensivebenefits program.
