Description The registered nurse assumes principleresponsibility for total care of assigned clients in the respectiveunit. This nurse is responsible for the processes of assessment,reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation ofthe written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation ofcare. The nurse initiates health care training and education to theclient / family as required while supporting and fostering thegoals of Andalusia Health and the Department of Nursing. Theregistered nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of theunit and provides leadership and direction to other team members inmaintaining optimal standards of nursing care. The position isaccountable for the supervision of other licensed and non-licensednursing personnel for assigned units. The position requiresflexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patternsincluding weekends and holidays to insure continuity of care andappropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of AndalusiaHealth on all units. The registered nurse is responsible forproviding care to all of the patient population with considerationto age-specificity and diagnosis. Qualifications Minimum EducationAssociate’s degree Required Required Skills Required ability tofunction in stressful situations. Verbal ability to presentinformation and ideas related to nursing theory and practice.
Ability to accept responsibility and accountability to provide,delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided on assigned units asrequired with leadership qualities. The position requires thecognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing careappropriate to the patient population assigned, considering clientage and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing processto include assessment/reassessment, nursing diagnosis, planning,implementation and evaluation.
Required Skills Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support(ACLS)
Required Skills Licenses:
Current license to practice as aRegistered Nurse in the State of Alabama. Required Skills BLS/CPRrequired within 30 days of hire date. ACLS required within 6 monthsof employment.
