Job Description

On Call Hospice Nurse 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Athens, AL 35611 Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Hospice Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in hospice settings, ensuring comfort and dignity during their end-of-life journey. You will work closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver holistic care tailored to individual needs. Duties Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Develop and implement personalized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed while monitoring for effectiveness and side effects. Provide education and support to patients and families regarding disease processes, symptom management, and end-of-life care. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities in compliance with regulatory standards. Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care. Assist with infection control measures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Support families through the grieving process by providing resources and counseling as needed. Experience Ideal candidates will possess experience in various nursing settings, including: Medical-surgical nursing Critical care environments Home community care settings Pediatrics or neonatal ventilator experience is a plus Additional skills that are beneficial include: Sterile processing techniques Knowledge of ICD-10 coding Vital signs monitoring Memory care expertise Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
