You will conduct health assessments, manage medications, and provide first aid as needed. Collaboration is key; expect to communicate regularly with teachers and parents about student health issues and wellness initiatives. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate health records and ensuring compliance with state regulations. Throughout your week, you’ll engage in health education activities, promoting healthy lifestyles among students. Your schedule will run Monday through Friday, concluding at 3:30 pm, allowing you to balance work and personal life while being an integral part of our vibrant school community. WOULD YOU BE A GREAT SCHOOL NURSE?
To thrive as a Full-Time School Nurse at Kingdom Heights Preparatory School, you will need a blend of clinical expertise and interpersonal skills. A Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, along with a valid Alabama RN license and a minimum of three years of pediatric experience, is essential. You should possess strong communication and organizational skills to coordinate health screenings and implement health programs effectively. Familiarity with health management software is a plus, as you will be responsible for maintaining accurate health records and submitting Individualized Health Plans. Additional skills include the ability to teach health-related topics, conduct faculty in-services, and enforce immunization compliance. Your role will also require a compassionate approach, as you serve as a liaison between health professionals and the school, addressing the diverse needs of students while ensuring adherence to state health policies. JOB GOAL
Plans and coordinates all activities related to health services programs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates and implements health screenings mandated by state law 2. Conducts faculty inservices regarding school health issues 3. Performs physical exams for select students and refers to appropriate health care provider 4. Performs dental screenings and teaches dental hygiene in conjunction with dental health month 5. Participates in the functions of the Eligibility Determination committee and submits Individualize Health Plans (IHP) where needed 6. Provides instruction to students on health related issues 7. Implements a program of care for pregnant teens and teenage moms 8. Assists in enforcing and reporting compliance with Alabama law regarding immunization requirements for all students 9. Serves as a liaison between health professionals and the school system regarding the health needs of children and secures proper medical care when deemed necessary 10. Reports child abuse and neglect to the Department of Human Resources 11. Enforces guidelines of the Communicable Disease policy and Medication policy 12. Administers special medical procedures when appropriate to needs of the student 13. Performs other related duties as assigned
