Provide direct and indirect nursing services to maximize each student’s potential to learn and grow by providing the best possible health care.
Qualifications:
Must hold valid Alabama Nursing and maintain licensure as directed by The Alabama Board of Nursing. Must possess and maintain a current CPR certification. Must meet background clearance requirements for employment at The Schools of Guntersville. Must have the physical ability to assist in the lifting and moving of students as is appropriate. Must be able to operate and communicate clearly on a telephone and/or a two way radio. Must have experience and training in working with students with seizures and diabetes. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as The School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide daily nursing care to the students at the assigned school while abiding by the licensure requirements as established by The Alabama Board of Nursing for a Registered Nurse. First Aid. Dispensing of medications at the assigned school and maintains accurate records and documentation according to the ALSDE Medication Curriculum. Vision/Hearing/Scoliosis Screenings. Assist with maintaining current immunization records. Assist with student medical needs during extracurricular activities as needed which may be outside of the usual Monday- Friday, 7am-3pm work day. Exercise appropriate professional nursing judgement. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position. Serve as a teaching resource for small and large groups of students in health, AIDS, drug prevention, etc. Provides inservice to staff and school personnel per ALSDE requirements. Assists in working with special needs students and works with their teachers and parents on matters as related to student health. Maintains up to date cumulative health information on students and writes student Individual Health Care Plans according to ALDSE requirements. Supervise the LPN’s as assigned per The Lead Nurse. Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary and Length of Contract to be established by the Board.
