Summary of Job Responsibilities The Nurse provides oversight and supervision to the medical needsof our residents. The Nurse is responsible for overseeingmedication administration and assuring the overall general physicalhealth of our students is met in accordance with state and federalguidelines. The nurse provides general oversight to the medicaloffice and functioning of medical needs.
General responsibilitiesare as follows:
Maintain clinical licensure (RN). Review intake materials for relevant information andassessments. Develop a baseline of knowledge health and psychiatricinformation regarding resident and family. Review intake information to ensure copy of immunization recordand most recent physical (within 30 days) is on file. Meet with resident within 24 hours of intake, preferably theday of intake, to review health needs. Assess students with medical ailments providing services andreferral as needed. Coordinate with home psychiatrist/pediatrician to ensure allneeds are met. Phone call to home psychiatrist within 7 days ofintake. Coordinate with Clinical team to provide medication managementwith routine consultation scheduled with psychiatrist. Monitor side effects of medications as directed by consultingpsychiatrist/physician (e.g. monitor weight, sleep, etc.). Obtain permission from parent/guardian for any medicationchanges, and document in KCARE. Create MAR for each resident and oversee medicationadministration. Provide trainings to residential faculty regarding medicationadministration and other health needs. Maintain dialogue with all faculty to ensure that they receiveneeded resident specific health information. Maintain regular communication with the family/guardianregarding resident’s health needs. Coordinate with local providers to schedule appointments forresidents. Maintain and order medication supplies. Maintains current documentation for each resident of allservices provided, medication administered, and outside contactsmade in accordance with policy (document all services within 24hours).
