Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing processin accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as wellas other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition,and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being ofthe patient. Perform other duties as assigned. May be required to perform duties of the CNA, MA, LPN or othernursing staff on occasion. Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projectsand committees as assigned. Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of the STRHS. Works scheduled shifts including overtime, when necessary. Accepts all call schedule as directed. Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to theexisting dress code. Reports to the Directory of OB / Nursery.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Required Skills:
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and theability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action.
Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), within 30 days of hire AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months ofhire NRP within 3 months of hire STABLE within 6 months of hire
Licenses:
Current and active Registered Nurse Licensure for the State ofTennessee or compact license with the required forms filed with theState of Tennessee within 30 days.
