Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN perform professionalsupervision, guidance and direction to staff in both clinical andpersonnel issues on the Sub-Acute (Short Term Unit). Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN coordinates resident care inaccordance with State DOH regulations. Provide support to resident/families in dealing with clinicalissues and challenges. Ensure staff adheres to safety and infection controlguidelines. Assist in establishing daily operations of resident care onunit. This includes but not limited to showers/baths, toileting,meal, medication administration and activities. Communicate to other members of the Interdisciplinary Teampertinent information to assure resident/family needs are met. Perform daily rounds of all residents on the unit. Perform assessments on residents as required by the facility -Admission, Elopement, Pain, etc.) Develop plan of care for each resident. Document andcommunicate plan of care on Resident Information Sheets.
Ensure Assessment:
Document clinical observation and assessmenton all assigned residents per regulations. Report findings ofongoing observations/assessments to the designated NursingSupervisor. Document effectiveness of plan of care. Prepare resident assignments for Certified Nursing Assistants,considering the category of needs of the patient and competency ofpersonnel. Communicate ongoing resident, family and facilityplan/concerns/information to staff. Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN will organize, oversee andsupervise assigned unit activities and staff assignments. Provide aNursing Assistant assignment for each CNA on his/her team.
Communicate to CNA pertinent resident care needs. Monitor andevaluate the flow of activity and delivery of patient care providedby the CNA’s (turning and positioning, mealtimes, bathing, etc.)Ensure CNA documentation records (ADL’s BM, Meal intake, etc.) arecompleted. Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN will communicate to theInterdisciplinary Team members any pertinent residentfindings. Registered Nurse Unit Manager, RN will assist other staffmembers in completion of their duties. Orient new Nursing personnelas assigned. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements:
Must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or three (3) years’experience in long term care Current licensure in NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse orLicensed Practical Nurse, Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a supervisory capacityeither in a hospital, long term care facility, or other relatedmedical facility, training in rehabilitative and restorativenursing practice. Must have a sincere desire to work with the elderly,chronically ill, and disabled. Must have a thorough knowledge of medical, social, andpsychological needs of residents. Must utilize good judgment in emergency situations. Must possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order tocreate an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth. Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents,families and staff. Must be able to handle emergencies with calm and intelligentresponse. Must have computer literacy.
