Required Qualifications:

Oneyear of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN Valid RNlicense in compliance with state regulations Current BLS (AHA/ARC)Certification Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)certification

Preferred Qualifications:

Neonatal Intensive CareNursing Certification (RNC-NIC) PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Othercertifications and licenses may be required for this position

Summary:

The NICU Registered Nurse provides specialized care tocritically ill and premature newborns in a neonatal intensive careunit (NICU). This role includes advanced neonatal assessments,operation of life-support equipment, and family-centered educationand support. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams andensures adherence to hospital and regulatory standards whiledelivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Essential WorkFunctions:

Assesses and monitors critically ill and prematurenewborns, identifying changes and documenting conditions andresponses Administers prescribed medications and treatments inaccordance with approved neonatal nursing techniques Performsneonatal assessments, including vital signs, weight checks, andspecialized neonatal screenings Operate and manage advanced NICUequipment, such as ventilators, CPAP machines, and infusion pumps,ensuring proper functionality Assists with life-saving anddiagnostic neonatal procedures including umbilical line placementand intubation Educates and supports parents on neonatal care,including feeding techniques and developmental care Prepareequipment and assist physicians during examinations and proceduresDevelop and implement individualized care plans for neonates incollaboration with the multidisciplinary team Adhere to infectioncontrol measures, including hand hygiene, PPE use, andsterilization protocols, to protect vulnerable neonates Collaboratewith interdisciplinary teams, including neonatologists andtherapists, to optimize neonatal outcomes Perform other duties asassigned within the scope of practice Adhere to hospital safetyprotocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills:

Critical thinking, service excellenceand good interpersonal communication skills The ability to read,write, & communicate in the English language is required Ability toread/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions,and proficiency in PC skills Physical Abilities

  • Remain in astationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs),pushing, pulling, bending Interpersonal Skills
  • To workeffectively with a variety of personnel (professional andancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalismTechnical/Motor Skills
  • Ability to grasp, fine manipulation,pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting withprocedures and/or using department equipment. Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public,customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able towork under close supervision occasionally as well as workingwithout assistance from other personnel.
