The Emergency Department atPlainfield is a free standing 12 bed unit, part of Backushospital’s emergency room that cares for patients across thespectrum of age, health, education, etc. The staff includesRegistered Nurses, emergency department technicians, UnitSecretaries, Physicians, Mid-Level practitioners, support staff,Public Safety Officers, and in-department radiology. The EmergencyDepartment is equipped with all tools needed to safely care for anypatient from central station cardiac monitoring to ultrasoundequipment, to our EHR (Epic ASAP). We are a primary stroke center.

All staff work together and in a supportive environment to makesure we have a safe environment for our staff & patients, workingthe most efficiently, and providing the highest level ofsatisfaction for our staff & patients. Job Summary Our Nurses workin collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams,focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse workspace. Under the direction and general supervision of the NurseManager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence based practices inaccordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies andprocedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff.

The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses thenursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standardsof practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural andeducational needs of the patient and family. QualificationsGraduate of a school of nursing; BSN preferred. One (1) yearcritical care RN experience required. BLS required. Ability toobtain and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), TraumaNurse Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) certifications within 90days of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain administration ofmoderate sedation within 9 months of hire. Current unrestrictedLicense in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in theState of Connecticut. Certified Emergency Nurse, CertifiedPediatric Emergency Nurse or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)certification preferred. We take great care of careers.
