The Neuro-Surgical ICU is a 17 bed adultinpatient unit caring for critically ill Neuro-science andNeuro-surgical patients. Our patient population consists of stroke,head and spinal cord trauma and brain hemorrhage. These patientsrequire nurses who specialize in monitoring intracranial pressures,brain tissue oxygenation and hemo-dynamic monitoring. RN’s in thisspecialty also must have a family-centered approach because of thecritical nature of our patients. We also work closely with ourNeuro-intensivist, Physician Assistants and Advanced PracticeRegistered Nurses to provide the highest quality of care for ourpatients. Job Summary In critical care, our nurses are highlyskilled and trained; helping to provide expertise at the bedsideand the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. Theunits heavily rely on a team-based mentality in which allhealthcare team members work congruently to achieve the bestoutcomes based on the Hartford Healthcare values of Safety,Excellence, Integrity and Caring. Qualifications CurrentConnecticut RN License. Graduate of an accredited nursing school(BSN Required). BLS certification by the American HeartAssociation, ACLS certification, and proof of ArrhythmiaCertification required prior to date of hire. Minimum one yearAcute Care RN experience strongly preferred. In exceptionalcircumstances, experienced ASN/ADN nurses currently in pursuit of aBSN or MSN may be considered.
