RequiredQualifications:

• One year of recent experience as an OperatingRoom RN
• Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications
• OR NursingCertification (CNOR)
• Other certifications and licenses may berequired for this position

Summary:

The Operating Room RegisteredNurse provides comprehensive patient care throughout theperioperative process, ensuring the safety and comfort of patientsduring surgical procedures. This role involves preparing theoperating room, managing surgical equipment, and collaborating withthe surgical team to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.

The OR RN collaborates with multidisciplinary teams and adheres tothe highest standards of patient safety, infection control, andprofessional ethics in a dynamic surgical environment.

EssentialWork Functions:

• Prepare the operating room by ensuring allrequired instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready andfunctional for each surgical procedure
• Assists in positioning andpreparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuringcomfort and safety according to procedural requirements
• Maintainsa sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adhering toinfection control protocols and sterile technique
• Anticipates theneeds of the surgical team providing instruments, supplies, andsupport promptly to maintain efficient workflow
• Monitorspatient’s condition during surgery, documenting significant changesand notifying the surgeon of any significant changes
• Handlessurgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use,sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols
• Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport according tofacility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results
• Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative settingaccurately and thoroughly
• Participate in patient handoffcommunication during pre
• and post-operative phases ensuringcontinuity of care
• Assist in cleaning and restocking theoperating room between cases, adhering to infection control andturnover protocols
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensurecompliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards
• Follow hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper useof PPE and infection prevention measures
• Perform other duties asassigned within the scope of practice

Required Essential Skills:

• Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills
• The ability to read, write, & communicate inthe English language is required
• Ability to read/comprehendwritten instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiencyin PC skills
• Physical Abilities
• Remain in a stationaryposition, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling,bending
• Interpersonal Skills
• To work effectively with a varietyof personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism
• Technical/Motor Skills
• Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
• Mental Requirements
• Must be able to cope with frequent contactwith the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines underpressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionallyas well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must beable to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally andcontinuous concentration to detail
