Nursing Simulation Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY
In collaboration with the nursing program coordinators and faculty within the Department of Health Sciences and Nursing, designs, implements, and evaluates evidence-based simulation experiences for nursing students at the undergraduate level. Responsible for managing and directing all activities related to simulation pedagogy and the nursing laboratories. Orients faculty and instructors to simulation procedures, location, and use of equipment and technology and manages the day-to-day operations of the Simulation Center and Nursing Simulation labs.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May supervise professional and/or support staff of a lower grade including student workers.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with faculty and staff, managing the day-to-day activities of the University Simulation labs and with clinical placements at the Simulation Center in Windham Hospital. Schedules activities, room assignments and coordinates simulation-based learning activities for undergraduate students. Arranges for set up and breakdown of simulation learning experiences.
Collaborates with the Clinical Coordinator in planning student rotations each semester for achieving the required clinical education requirements to meet accreditation standards.
Designs, implements, and evaluates simulation-based learning activities utilizing recognized standards and evidence to ensure effective learning experiences for students. Utilizes data to support quality improvement within the Simulation Center. Assists faculty to integrate simulation-based activities into their courses and into the curriculum.
Utilizes and emphasizes instructional methods that promote the development of critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and clinical competency for real life application.
Working with Director of Clinical Education in Nursing, faculty and other members of the Department of Health Sciences and Nursing, creates a plan for expanding simulation-based learning experiences for nursing students and other members of the Eastern community including inter-professional activities.
Supports student and faculty simulation research projects and utilizes current research findings in simulation to promote best practices in simulation design and operations.
Develops instructional materials for students, laboratory assistants, and faculty. Provides orientation to faculty to the Simulation Center, equipment, and technology. Works with Information Technology Services to update equipment and technology and troubleshoots technology issues within the Simulation Center.
Maintains simulation equipment and provides for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of the equipment. Serves as a liaison to external vendors. Maintains appropriate warranties for simulation equipment.
Develops and hosts activities that support student success with the application of knowledge in the laboratory and clinical settings. Hosts open hours for students to practice and come for remediation of skills performance.
Updates and maintains clinical documentation in clinical computer software program.
Creates and maintains an atmosphere of mutual respect and professionalism and ensures student and faculty confidentiality within the Simulation Center.
Remains current in field and attends relevant conferences, webinars, and seminars as appropriate.
Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those described above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
KNOWLEDGE, KILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of clinical simulation technology and methodology; Knowledge of best practices in simulation design and operations; Ability to lead projects and to work with diverse learners; Proficiency in purchasing and inventory control of equipment; Ability to lift and transfer simulation mannequins; Excellent organizational and communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Incumbents typically perform their work indoors, on campus or offsite at a hospital, and in person; they may be required to work evenings, weekends and outdoors for events, activities, and other programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution of higher education. Four (4) years of clinical practice experience as a Registered Nurse to include two (2) years of experience with simulation education for nursing students, simulation-based technology, simulation pedagogy, and simulation operations. Current Connecticut State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
Current certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Certification for Nurse Educators (CNE) preferred.

Admissions Counselor
DUTIES:
1. Assists the Associate Director with ongoing strategic communications with high school and independent counselors, including email, print, and other media.
2. Represent the University both on- and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process including at college fairs, high school visits, and other events
3. Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned high schools and territories, including travel both in and out-of-state.
4. Works collaboratively with two-year and community colleges to increase transfer student enrollment.
5. Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the University by in-person appointments, phone calls, emails and social media outlets.
6. Review and score application essays and other materials submitted by applicants for the
purposes of making admission decisions.
7. Coordinate and contribute to the success of various student visit programs designed to recruit targeted
prospective applicants to the University.
8. Assist in the development and delivery of on-campus events and programs for counseling groups and individuals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with some admissions counseling and/or student outreach experience, or equivalent.
This position requires the ability to travel to remote locations and to load and transport admissions materials, displays and other equipment. Some evening and weekend hours required, especially during the travel season. Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills are necessary, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations. Ability to represent the admissions profession positively through a strong, student centered ethic. Basic familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software tools. Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Associate Vice President for Facilities Management and Planning
The Associate Vice President for Facilities Management & Planning operates under the direction of the Vice President for Finance and Administration and is responsible the implementation of the campus Master Plan, overseeing the capital plan implementation including the planning, budgeting, and oversight of construction, the operation and maintenance of the university buildings, grounds and utilities. The Associate Vice President oversees a staff of over 100 employees that include Capital Projects, HVAC, Heat Plant, Plumbing, Electrical, General Maintenance, Carpentry, Locks, Custodial, Grounds, Warehouse & Stores, and Vehicle Maintenance functions. The position, by attention to details, supports the mission and strategic plan for the institution by ensuring maintenance of campus facilities, grounds, equipment and fixtures that provide a safe and attractive environment for the campus community and supports student success and excellence.
Primary Accountabilities:
Serves as technical advisor to the President of the University and other members of the President’s Staff.
Prepares reports required by the Board of Regents, Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works, and other Federal and State agencies.
Serves as a resource and campus contact person for all Department of Administrative Services Major Capital Projects. Takes a lead role in the development of project scope, schedule, budgeting, coordination of design and construction oversight for new construction, renovations and deferred maintenance projects.
Is responsible for budgeting & planning of current capital projects, code compliance and infrastructure improvements, and deferred maintenance programs. Develops the annual capital improvement and deferred maintenance budgets and provides updates for the five-year facilities plan. This includes estimating costs, determining long range schedule and priority of projects. Responsible for the development and management of the operating budget and resources for the operation of the physical plant, utility distribution systems as well as the budgeted resources for personnel, contract services, supplies, projects and grants. Provide quarterly updates and budget projections. Reviews and approves all expenditures and monitors fiscal performance of the department.
Responsible for ensuring the plans and specifications for alteration and renovation work contracted or performed by University Personnel meet code requirements, state regulations and procurement policies. Oversee processes to review project designs for adherence to program requirements, constructability, value engineering, cost estimating, commissioning, code compliance, long term facility serviceability & care as well as compliance with Campus Design Standards
Assist in drafting and directing RFP’s, bids, procurement and contract document preparation for maintenance contracts as well as Capital Improvements. Is responsible for the annual physical inventory of capitalized assets and controllable assets.
Assists with the development of policies in conjunction with Human Resources department for the management operations of the department and in alignment with current labor contracts.
Responsible for submitting staffing requests to VP for Finance & Administration for approval to ensure that staffing levels and skills meet the operational needs of the department. Ensures hiring, staff training, performance evaluations, and recommendations for promotion of staff in the maintenance department and Capital Projects Office meet the needs of the department. Assumes responsibility for affirmative action efforts and adherence to procedures in recruitment, hiring, and promotion of staff in alignment with annual operating budget.
Assists in the development and implementation of the Facilities Master Plan.
Supervises the maintenance and operation of all vehicles and physical plant equipment, and furniture.
Member of the Green Campus Committee and responsible for monitoring the Greenhouse Gas inventory and producing measures for the overall reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and the promotion of sustainability in operations and maintenance of the campus.
Member of the Safety Committee.
Identify and develop strategies in which the university can repurpose space for maximum utilization and responsible for updating campus space inventory.
Prepare for emergency response from all areas within Facilities Management and act accordingly.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field and a minimum of five years of managerial experience in facilities management, administration, and planning is required. A Master’s Degree, professional engineering license, Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP), Facilities Management Professional (FMP) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM), and experience in a college or university setting are preferred. Experience including a minimum of ten years of progressive facilities experience with a minimum of five years being in a supervisory/management role is also preferred.
