Job Summary:

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner is aRegistered Nurse with NPD practice judgement and expertise whoinfluences professional role competence and growth of learners.

This position works in collaboration with nursing leadership tofoster and influence competency management, clinical nursingeducation, professional role development, policy standardization,collaborative partnerships, scientific inquiry, transition topractice and onboarding/orientation of new Hartford HealthCarecolleagues. The practitioner is an essential member of the nursingleadership team who promotes the alignment of regional NPD andpractice excellence with the HHC system as a whole.

JobResponsibilities:

The area of coverage for this position isinpatient cardiology, ambulatory cardiology, and the Cath Lab, EP,and IR procedural areas. Key areas of responsibility

    LearningFacilitator:

    Uses the educational design process and adult learningprinciples to bridge the knowledge, skills and/or practice gapsidentified through learning needs assessment and evaluation ofoutcomes.

      Collaborative Partner:

      Collaborates with members of thenursing leadership team to assess learning needs, developsprograms, monitors clinical competency, and supports action plans.

      Represents nursing in the development of inter-professionallearning activities.

        Role Development:

        Promotes professionalnursing practice and quality patient care according to the ANAstandards of practice. Endorses the theory-based approach throughthe continuum of practice from novice to expert.

          Mentor:

          Advancesthe profession of nursing and the NPD specialty by contributing tothe professional development of others and supporting the ongoingprofessional learning as individuals develop across practice,professional and educational settings.

            Competency Management:

            Utilizes tools to capture knowledge, skill, ability judgment andperformance during the situational or dynamic phases of practice(i.e. initial and ongoing competencies).

              Orientation:

              Develops,facilitates, conducts, and evaluates programs during the onboardingphase and when changes in roles, responsibilities and practiceoccur.

                Change Agent:

                Works to transform processes at micro, mesoand/or macro system levels. Uses change management strategies andtheories to drive desired outcomes.

                • Champion of ScientificInquiry Promotes a spirit of inquiry, the generation anddissemination of new knowledge and the use of evidence to advanceNPD practice, guide clinical practice and improve the quality ofcare for the healthcare consumer/partner. Qualifications Education
                • BSN required. MSN or enrolled in MSN program. Experience
                • Minimum of 3 years of active clinical nursing experience.
                • Atleast 1 year of experience in an acute care environment, Inpatientand Procedural clinical experience required.
                • Experience as apreceptor or other informal educator role
                • One year of relevantteaching experience preferred, nursing professional developmentand/or specialty area preferred.
                • Critical care level clinicalexperience preferred.
                • BLS required.
