Job Title:
Registered NurseJob Description As a Registered Nurse, you will continuously assess patient status throughout perioperative care and develop and implement individualized patient care plans. You will ensure patient safety by protecting them from injuries, safely operating equipment, preventing unintended retained surgical items, and adhering to standard precautions. Your role involves communicating patient status to relevant parties, administering medications, maintaining wound and tissue perfusion, and educating patients on various aspects of care. Responsibilities + Protect patients from injury due to extraneous objects and various sources. + Safely operate equipment and report unsafe situations. + Perform accounting procedures to prevent unintended retained surgical items. + Advocate for patient safety. + Handle specimens per facility policies. + Adhere to standard precautions and use personal protective equipment. + Communicate patient status to relevant parties. + Administer medications safely using the 8 rights of medication administration. + Maintain patient wound and tissue perfusion. + Ensure patients return to normothermia postoperatively. + Provide nursing care and monitor per policies and procedures. + Prevent surgical site infections. + Assess patient or support person knowledge levels. + Educate patients on psychosocial responses, nutrition, medication, pain, wound management, and expected outcomes. + Involve patients or support persons in care decisions and rehabilitation. + Protect patient rights, dignity, and privacy. + Provide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards. + Maintain a fire-safe environment. + Practice and monitor aseptic techniques. + Comply with Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policies. + Evaluate patient progress toward outcomes. + Transfer care as needed. + Maintain radiation safety per facility policies. + Provide accurate, concise hand-off reports. + Delegate tasks per state Nurse Practice Act, state board of nursing requirements, state laws, and job descriptions. + Document care episodes accurately, timely, completely, and legibly. + Communicate and collaborate effectively with the perioperative team and stakeholders. + Participate in multidisciplinary planning for perioperative patient care. + Engage in quality review and performance improvement projects. + Participate in performance appraisals. + Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships. + Maintain required competencies. + Pursue professional growth. + Advocate for patients and maintain privacy and confidentiality of health information. + Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles. + Demonstrate fiscal responsibility. + Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills + Graduate from an accredited nursing school. + Current state nursing license in good standing. + Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. + Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification if pediatric care is provided. + Preferably one year of experience in OR and/or medical/surgical nursing. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Specialty certification in Perioperative Nursing is preferred. Work Environment The work environment is physically demanding and high-stress, with exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and radiation. You will be required to push and pull heavy objects, handle and lift patients and equipment, and maintain manual and finger dexterity. Standing and walking for extensive periods, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs, and working irregular hours are part of the role. Corrected vision and hearing within normal range are necessary. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $93000.00 – $116000.00/yr.
